An elderly Detroit, Michigan woman named Margaret Theut, 71 years of age, went missing the last weekend of November and has not been seen since. Nobody has seen her since she attended mass services at her church. She lives on Patton Street and has lived in the same Warrendale neighborhood in Detroit for years. Police are suspecting foul play in this disappearance.
Neighbors were really suspicious when they spotted an unblocked and open gate and also noticed that her vehicle was missing. She also did not leave her dog home alone and a neighbor spotted her dog in the house and the TV on.
She had a date for lunch on Monday and when she did not show up for that, her friends and neighbors made a missing persons report and investigators have been looking for her ever since.
Margaret Theut did not have any blood relatives and so neighbors are looking after her house and dog. Margaret was adopted and she also adopted a son named “Tito” but he is reportedly in prison and was in prison at the time of her disappearance.
They did find her car, which is a tan Chevrolet Impala, about 8 blocks away and it was in the possession of her son’s, sister's boyfriend. She also helped raise her son's sister named “Tita” but somehow never formally adopted her. Her empty purse was found in the Impala along with some of her other possessions. Many friends believe that Ms. Theut was harmed by Tita and her boyfriend. Tita has been in trouble in the past for credit card fraud/credit card theft relating to Ms. Theut’s debit card.
Many of her friends, think that she is “with the Lord and no longer with us”. Police are investigating and the vehicle has been impounded by her friends are upset because they do not believe enough is being done. There have been no sightings of Margaret Theut since that last weekend in November and friends are hoping that they can solve this case and find Margaret.
Hopefully, the authorities will find Margaret Theut and bring her home alive but if not, at least give her a proper burial and the respect she deserves. I also feel there is not enough attention brought to this case and even the information available is sketchy at best. I think they should have flyers along with her information posted. It isn't even available on any of the websites that I visited.
If you have any information regarding Margaret Theut or may have possibly seen her, please call the Detroit Police Department immediately at 313-596-2069 or 313-596-2260.
I would love to hear your comments or general input on this case. I hope someone lights a fire under the Detroit PD’s butt.
