Missing Wisconsin man Greg Senn has been found. The morning of last Tuesday March 13th, a man walking the trail at Lake Wazeecha noticed a baseball cap (with what looked like a hoodie over it) floating in the water and called authorities. Grand Rapids Police Chief Dave Lewandowski ordered divers to retrieve the item from the water. It was at that point, that they found Greg Senn’s body underneath and pulled him from the lake.
It's a very unfortunate outcome but one that was believed to be most likely the last couple of months that Greg Senn has been missing in the Grand Rapids area. Greg was 29 years old and lived in Wood County and was missing since 1/14/2012. The preliminary autopsy results are hypothermia in drowning. Foul play is not expected and no significant injuries were noticed. The official autopsy results will not be available for at least 2 to 3 weeks and at that time officials may know more.
Greg Senn had been walking across Lake Wazeecha to get home since he was a kid and many believe that this time he hit a patch of thin ice. This is a map of the area of Lake Wazeecha:

There was some news that was reported February 24th regarding an investigation into how a dispatcher handled a call that came into the dispatch center. Authorities believe a call about Greg Senn came in reporting possible problems and dispatcher Brian Turner failed to note it in the log and dispatch authorities to check on the situation. Turner has been placed on a 30 day suspension.
There's been a lot of talk about the lack of response from the dispatch center and a big deal seems to have been made about it in the area as many residents of the area are angry. Since then, it seems authorities have stepped up their training for the dispatchers when they are hired and are taking steps so that this kind of thing does not happen again.
Can you imagine how the Senn family must feel? Nothing will change what happened that day but we can all learn from it and hope it is not repeated any time soon. It definitely was an unfortunate outcome and my condolences go out to the Senn family.
